RTBU - PacNat Member's EBA 2005 Update Newsflash! 1731 August 2005Response to Pacific National's Misleading Newsletters
Pacific National is continuing to attempt to deceive RTBU members with the correspondence they are putting out to the workplace. Members may recall that in the company's Newsletter 18 they made an incorrect statement that further meetings had been agreed to take place next week. No such meeting had been agreed at all. In fact, in the discussions last week, Pacific National advised that some of their managers would not be available on certain days next week. The RTBU was not advised of what those days were. The RTBU advised that we would conduct a national delegate telephone hook up this Friday and would then make a call on any further meetings. On Monday of this week the Human Resources manager contacted the RTBU National Secretary and a vigorous and lively discussion took place. Pacific National said they had already made arrangements to have negotiating committee employees booked off for meetings next week. The RTBU was adamant that there had been no agreement for any further meetings, but advised that we would speak to our negotiating team delegates, and they would make the call about whether or not we would meet next week. The discussion with our negotiating team delegates has taken place, via a telephone hook up, and as we told the company we would, we contacted PN on Tuesday and informed them that we were prepared to meet with them next week on the proviso that the delegates were released for Monday so that the RTBU negotiating team could have the opportunity to discuss any relevant issues. In their previous two Newsletters the company has deliberately attempted to create the illusion that our information to members has some how been false. The company has tried to suggest to you that meetings for next week had been agreed all along. They were not. During the phone hook up with your Negotiating Team delegates, every one of them recalled the events of last week as having taken place in the manner outlined above and in previous RTBU Newsflashes. The company cannot seem to come to terms with the fact that the RTBU has excellent communication and delegate networks in place, and our members are being kept up to date with the truth about the negotiations through every step of the way. Once again the tactics adopted by Pacific National lead us to wonder about how serious they are about finalising the Enterprise Agreement negotiations. The RTBU does not intend to involve itself in a paper war with the company, but Pacific National's misrepresentation of what occurred last week needed a response. The RTBU has, and will continue to provide members with up to date ACCURATE information regarding the Enterprise Agreement negotiations. Further Information Further information on issues regarding the Enterprise Agreement negotiations please contact you local RTBU delegate, your respective RTBU State Branch or the National Office. Newsflash!@ Home If you would like to receive future EBA Newsflashes to your personal home email please email Greg Harvey at gharvey@rtbu-nat.asn.au with your name, your location, your classification and your email address and you will be added to the email list.
