Building our organising skills The Rail Tram & Bus Union has a detailed education and training program for delegates and job representatives. The NSW Locomotive Sub-Division Secretaries’ training program, February 2002. From left to right – B | The October 2001 National Council meeting decided to make it an objective for 2.5 per cent of union finance to be spent on education and training. The NSW Branch has had a 50 cents per week levy on all members for this purpose for over two years. Many NSW delegates and job reps are now taking the ACTU Organising Works Training Courses. The NSW Locomotive Division has enthusiastically adopted this plan to equip their delegates and job reps with the skills they need today. A five-day course for Sub-Division Secretaries took place in Sydney in late February 2002, to focus on organising skills. There will be one-day follow-up courses over the next three months for participants to build on their skills and monitor their implementation.
